gunma evangelistic english program

Ann teaches monthly evangelistic English classes in Kanra Town, Gunma Prefecture (two hours north of Tokyo by road). The classes all include Bible content.

The Gunma project began as a church planting partnership with a Japanese mother church in 2005. But by the summer of 2007 it became clear that the mother church was no longer willing or able to carry out the church planting responsibilities. Thus our partnership with the mother church ended. At about the same time, the community center we were renting refused to renew our rental lease, presumably due to the Bible content of the classes.

But the dozen or so unbelieving ladies who attended Ann's English conversation classes were eager to continue. And one of the ladies offered the free use of her ballet school (bottom pic at the right).

So despite some setbacks, we have continued this evangelistic program in Gunma. Our dream is to see these English classes eventually grow into a home Bible study and then a church.
