Tokyo Multicultural Church (TMCC)

Tokyo, the largest "megapolitan" or megacity of the world with about 30 million people, is becoming increasingly culturally diverse. Our goal is to start a multicultural church with multiple language-specific congregations on the east side of Tokyo.

We plan to launch TMCC in late 2012 or early 2013 with Japanese and English congregations. Then we hope to add congregations that worship in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese), Portuguese, and Tagalog. Each language congregation will have its own leadership, either lay or pastoral, and will form its own leadership team.

The church planting project utilizes a partnership model. Leadership will be based in Tokyo, but partners from outside Japan will be recruited. These partners can be individuals, churches, or mission agencies. Partnership will provide an opportunity for hands-on commitment to the project--for example, sending short term teams to TMCC.
