Tsunami3

A 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit northeastern Japan on March 11, 2011. The giant tsunami waves along the Pacific Ocean coastline caused about 23,000 fatalities. Rebuilding will take years.

The EFC of Canada Mission begins a one year tsunami recovery ministry in January 2012, based in greater Sendai city area. The ministry is shaped by the concepts of long term sustainability and church planting connectivity.

Dale and Ann will lead the EFCCM recovery ministry. Here is our timetable:

  • July 2011: travel to Japan to set up recovery ministry projects, leadership, cooperations, etc. (Updates of that ministry setup trip can be found on Dale's japanquake.ca blog.)
  • Sep 2011 - Dec 2011: publicize tsunami recovery ministry and raise funds for returning to Japan.
  • Jan 1, 2012: Dale and Ann return to Japan
  • Jan 15 - Nov 2012: carry out the recovery ministry, based in Sendai.

Then in December 2012, Dale and Ann will return to Tokyo to launch Tokyo Multicultural Church (TMCC), but will continue providing leadership and encouragement to church planting projects in Sendai that they link with during their one year of tsunami recovery ministry.
