9:30am Sunday school was not reaching enough children associated with TMC, so in October Ann started a new TMC ministry to children and their parents. She calls it “Wakuwaku (exciting, thrilling) Family Time.”

Wakuwaku meets monthly on Sunday afternoon and includes lively games, a Bible story, singing, a craft and of course, a snack. Our theme is taken from Jesus’ words “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…and your neighbor as yourself” (Lk. 10:27). We are teaching stories from Jesus’ life that illustrate this message.

At October’s Wakuwaku Family Time we welcomed 6 boys with at least one parent each. Ann was pleased to hear one non-Christian dad take his son’s Good Samaritan stick figures that he had made, and retell the story to his son.

In December we had 10 children with their parents, including 6 new little ones. We celebrated Christmas with noisy active games, a star craft, singing, yummy cookies and of course the Christmas story from the Bible. It was encouraging to see seven TMC people pitch in to make cookies, welcome each family, supervise games, prepare the craft, set up and clean up. It was indeed a team effort. Two of the children were from our English outreach ministries: one girl attended the summer English program and another boy was from Ann’s regular kids’ English class. Creating a bridge for people from English outreach ministries to TMC is always a challenge and we were happy to see some new connections. Friends also make a good bridge to TMC. Two of our TMC ladies faithfully invite friends in their community, so many of our children and their parents come through them.
